The true story about my sudden change of beliefs

Hi. I can imagine and understand that some people were surprised when I suddenly turned to god. And I also can understand if people ask "There is no god, there is too much violence". Even though I don't really agree, I really can understand this.
God may be unproven, but, when I did not believe in him, he proved himself to me. That's why I believe in him.
It was when my friend told me about something religious, and it seems like, only through the fact that she started talking about religion, god could talk through her. God spoke to me. It might seem ridiculous to some of you but it is true. He said maybe i could try and find my way back to him, without getting forced to believe and go to church. And so it was, I prayed this night before I went to sleep and I really felt better, it really helped me.
I do not write this to make you all believe in god. How could I. I just want to say, god may not be proven, but to those who are open-minded for it, he will prove that he exists.

Hey Ines. You as well as others know i do not discuss my beliefs often, but God has proven himself to me too many times not to believe as well. Hugs. I'm proud of you my sis.

Thank you Bridgette, I totally agree with you. My parents and many of my friends don't believe in god and say "god doesn'T exist, if he did, he would help us out of all the violence." I understand them, but i still believe that god will return soon to earth and rescues us all.

Personally I think it's more a beliefe in and understanding of yourself, but to each his/her own.

Hey Ines,
Both of your posts on this topic are exactally the way I think.
That's pretty cool, and it was also things that happened that made my believes change.
I'm really not going to go in to it right now, but wow, we think a like, and I'd tell you more, but I have writers block or something. This happens to me every once in a while.
Take care, and hopefully we can talk soon.

Hey Goldberg, thank you. I am glad that we think alike. Since I believe in god, I have had the oportunity to help people, more than ever. Just being there, listening and being a friend ... since I aI have been a christian, I feel I have changed in that way.

You don't need a belief in God to help people. All you need is a sense of unity, connection with nature and humanity, a sense that we all need to be good to each other for a safe, secure society.

I did not say I need that. I just said, I realized that I had the oportunity to help people more and more often. It wasn't that I suddenly decided "now I am a christian, now I have to help people". It was just that I got the oportunity to help more often than earlier.

That has more to do with joining a community of like-minded people who want to help others.

Chris that's it in a nutshell all the religious people I've spoken to, have all said the same thing, I'm looking for something and I hope religion can help me to find it...I can only ascertain that they are looking for self esteem and self belief...you wont find that in a faith which preaches a loss of pride and individuality.
